Hanoi named as Asian top destination of 2026
Hanoi has been ranked 8th among the 20 most attractive destinations in Asia for 2026, according to the U.S.-based magazine U.S. News & World Report.

The ranking, updated at the end of 2025, is based on criteria including local costs, accessibility, cuisine, diversity of attractions, and reader feedback. According to the magazine, Hanoi is an ideal choice for first-time visitors to Vietnam, thanks to its unique blend of vibrant urban life and tranquil lakeside spaces.
U.S. News describes Vietnam’s capital as offering a well-rounded experience of history, culture, shopping, cuisine, and scenery. A typical journey may begin with a cup of egg coffee, followed by a stroll through the colorful narrow streets of the Old Quarter, and then enjoying the city’s famous street food.
In terms of sightseeing, visitors can choose from museums, temples, pagodas, the Old Quarter, and traditional markets. Two must-visit destinations for history enthusiasts are the Temple of Literature and the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum.

Other destinations in the top 10 this year include Mount Fuji and Tokyo (Japan), Palawan Islands (Philippines), Seoul (South Korea), Sri Lanka, Chiang Mai (Thailand), Bhutan, and Bali (Indonesia).
Topping the list are Mount Fuji and Tokyo. According to U.S. News, Mount Fuji can be visited year-round and is suitable for a day trip from Tokyo, though it also deserves a deeper exploration. Tokyo is introduced as a “culinary mecca,” renowned for sushi, ramen, rooftop bars, and having one of the highest concentrations of Michelin-starred restaurants in the world.

Ranked third is the Palawan archipelago, located between the Sulu Sea and the South China Sea, famous for its white-sand beaches ideal for swimming and diving. El Nido and Coron are among the most popular destinations in the area.
